Focus and Scope

The Surakarta English and Literature Journal (SELJU) is a peer-reviewed academic publication that focuses on the interdisciplinary study of language, literature, and culture, with a particular emphasis on the cultural and educational contexts of Surakarta (Solo), Indonesia. The journal aims to promote scholarly dialogue that connects local wisdom and global perspectives within the fields of English studies, linguistics, education, and cultural inquiry.

SELJU welcomes research articles, reviews, and conceptual papers addressing, but not limited to, the following areas:

• Linguistics and Applied Linguistics, including pragmatics, discourse analysis, sociolinguistics, semantics, and English for Specific Purposes (ESP).

• Language Education and Pedagogy, encompassing curriculum design, language teaching methodologies, literacy studies, and teacher professional development.

• Literary Studies, covering English and Indonesian literature, comparative literature, translation studies, and literary criticism.

• Cultural and Intercultural Communication, emphasizing Javanese tradition, local heritage, cultural identity, and cross-cultural encounters.

• Translation and Interpretation, focusing on theoretical and practical issues in translating cultural and literary texts.
