About the Journal

Surakarta English Journal (SELJU), 2621-9077 (PRINT)- 2621-9085 (ONLINE) is an academic publication dedicated to the study of culture, language, and literature with a strong emphasis on the rich cultural heritage of Solo (Surakarta), Indonesia. As a prominent center of Javanese tradition, Solo offers a unique backdrop for scholarly exploration into local wisdom, cultural identity, and intercultural communication.

The journal is published in the heart of Surakarta, a city renowned not only for its historical and cultural depth but also as a hub of higher education and intellectual activity. Home to several major universities and academic institutions, Solo fosters a vibrant academic community, making SELJU a vital platform for scholars, researchers, and students interested in cultural studies, linguistics, education, translation English for spesific purposes and literature within both local and global contexts.

This journal has been published every February and August by University of Surakarta, Indonesia and accredited by the Indonesian Ministry of Research, Technology and Higher Education (RistekDikti) in SINTA (Achieving SINTA 4) since March 21th, 2025. The recognition was published in the Director Decree (SK No. 0173/C3/DT.05.00/2025 ), effective until 2028

Intending to improve quality since June 12, 2025, this journal officially cooperated with Pragmatic Discussion Forum (English Studies Association in Indonesia). See The MoU Manuscript.
